Director, Medical & Scientific Communications

Reports to: Chief Scientific Officer


Overview:

Biotheranostics develops molecular diagnostics that support the selection of individualized oncology therapies through improved cancer classification, breast cancer risk stratification and prediction of therapeutic benefit, and predictive biomarker testing.

Biotheranostics, Inc. is seeking a Director of Medical & Scientific Communications supporting the emerging field of molecular diagnostics. The Director’s primary role is to oversee the strategic development and scientific communication materials including: scientific publications, slide decks, training materials, etc. Additionally, the director provides scientific expertise for advisory board support, data mining activities, and competitive intelligence reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development and execution of Medical & Scientific Communications strategy
  • Leadership of Scientific Communications, including publication planning, scientific content development, congress activities, promotional review, and datamining activities
  • Develop and create scientific content/materials (e.g. slide decks)
  • Gather market intelligence on competitor products and new products in development

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of a comprehensive, corporately aligned strategic publication plan, including participation in data analysis, editing and preparation of publications for submission, while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures established by ICMJE
  • Manage vendors to ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and of high quality prior to subsequent internal review
  • Manage slide repository and ensure approval of available scientific content
  • Support development of Advisory Board strategy and lead content development
  • Lead planning and executing all scientific content around relevant conferences, including meeting summaries and Medical Information Booth interactions
  • Additional responsibilities include assisting the head of Medical & Scientific Affairs in the development of the infrastructure of additional department functions (e.g. IIT, CME, etc)

Job Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate will have an advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) and over 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience with 5+ years in scientific communications
  • Familiarity with oncology and pathology, and genomic approaches in diagnostic applications and biomarker discovery is desired
  • Understand how HEOR/RWE may be used in communications
  • Able to successfully communicate complex concepts and data to a variety of audiences
  • Independent worker, with strong leadership and team management skills
  • Proficiency with EndNote and Microsoft Office software package is required. Proficiency with industry/publication specific software is desired
  • Presents clearly and confidently to the highest level of audience
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to manage multiple projects
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, team oriented, high integrity, sense of urgency, appetite to both individually contribute and lead, flexible, resourceful and willingness to “wear multiple hats”
  • Travel: approximately 15%
