What is the Breast Cancer IndexSM test?
Breast Cancer Index is a molecular diagnosis test that provides the likelihood of distant recurrence in patients diagnosed with ER+ node-negative breast cancer.
Which patients would most benefit from this test?
For ER-positive, node-negative breast cancer patients, this test helps to improve risk
stratification for better breast cancer prognosis and patient management.
How can the Breast Cancer Index test be ordered?
Click on How to Order a Test for complete instructions. bioTheranostics will perform the test in its CLIA certified laboratory and send the results back to the ordering physician and/or other healthcare professionals.
How is it performed?
A small biopsy sample of tumor tissue is sent to the certified laboratory of bioTheranostics where the Breast Cancer Index testing is performed.
How long does it take to get the results?
Test results are usually available in about one week after the tissue specimen is received by bioTheranostics. The results can only be released to the ordering physician and/or other healthcare professionals.
How are the results reported?
The test results will include patient value, reference range, and recurrence risk per both H/I and MGI biomarkers, as well as low, intermediate, and high risk five and ten year recurrence probabilities. Physicians can also discuss results with the medical director of bioTheranostics.
What if my patient doesn’t have insurance or the insurance doesn’t completely cover the test?
bioTheranostics believes that every eligible patient should have access to the Breast Cancer Index. Programs for uninsured and qualified underinsured patients, and payment plans that can be tailored to meet specific financial needs, are available.
What if my patient needs additional information or help on reimbursement?
