Breast Cancer IndexSM

The better way to stratify risk

Breast Cancer Index refines and improves risk stratification in patients with estrogen receptor (ER)-positive, lymph node-negative breast cancer, providing independent and complementary prognostic information useful for treatment decisions.

The Breast Cancer Index:

  • Assesses recurrent risk beyond current parameters such as age, size, grade, etc.
  • Stratifies the Intermediate Risk group, identifying subgroups with Low Risk and High Risk features
  • Refines the Low Risk group, identifying subgroups with Intermediate and High Risk features

A more complete picture of recurrence risk

Of the 86% of patients identified by St. Gallen Risk Criteria as intermediate risk in a recent study1, only 26.5% were actually intermediate risk: 42.5% were low risk and 31% were high risk when re-stratified using the Breast Cancer Index. Using only the St. Gallen Criteria, 42.5% in the intermediate group would potentially have been over treated and 31% significantly undertreated.
