Use of decalcifiers in bone biopsies for CancerTYPE ID®
Successful testing can only be achieved through proper preparation of specimens before the test is performed, including the use of appropriate decalcifiers. Experience shows that bone biopsies/samples that have been decalcified with hydrochloric acid-containing decalcifiers yield an insufficient quantity of RNA for CancerTYPE ID, adversely affecting the test results. In order to avoid this situation, using a formic acid-based decalcifier is highly recommended. A few commercially available decalcifiers are listed below:
The latter two are decalcifiers only, and can be used if the bone biopsy/sample has already been fixed to avoid over-fixation from occurring. Please click on product names for specific information related to the above listed reagents.
